The Psycho-Spiritual Phenomena of the New Testament, based on Old Testament Tradition

Here is the nexus between Eastern and Western Spirituality.

To make a long story short, many, if not most, of the psychological and spiritual aspects of Western civilization were, essentially, removed from the social and religious discourse by selective translation of the Bible.

... Or lack of translation, more accurately.

The word Napsha, as used by Jesus in his talks, refers to a preconscious aspect of mind, somewhere between the limbic system and cerbral cortex, that allows for the linkage between conscious processes and one's deeper self. This is truly the nexus of the meditative experience; the link between mind and body, the place of emotional sensitivity and responsiveness.

(As you will see elsewhere on this website, I see emotion NOT as some sideshow that runs parallel to life, but as a central experience; an experience that is truly what creates and drives our core actions in life. ... E = to bring forth; Motion = action; therefore Emotion = to bring forth action.)

If you read the Sermon on the Mount in the New Testament, you will read of the Blessed who are this and Blessed who are that. Well, the term Blessed, as translated out of the old Aramaic language, the language of Jesus and, maybe coincidentally, Buddha and many cultures in between throughout the territories from the Middle East to the Far East, refers to this phenomena called Naphsha.

The interesting thing is that modern neuroscience is discovering that this phenomena actually exists, and is NOT some mystical or super-natural phenomena. It is REAL.

So, is it such a stretch of the imagination that Jesus and his followers were also familiar with this phenomena? If the Buddha was referring to it, why not Jesus and the Western religious orders? ... In fact, if he did not know of and have mystery over this apspect of human consciousness, and did not know of its existence, we might wonder if he was as enlightened as many say he was.
